Remembering Peter Liacouras

By now you’ve probably heard about the passing of Temple visionary, Peter Liacouras.  Liacouras was the President of Temple University from 1982 to 2000 and is largely credited for the transformation of Temple from a commuter school to the world-class institution it is today.  Peter Liacouras had a vision for the transformation of the school and the revitalization of the area around it and we were inspired to help achieve that vision.

TempleTown Realty’s Managing Partner, Jonathan Weiss, started the company in 1996, around the same time that Liacouras started major construction projects at Temple including the Liacouras Center and Liacouras Walk.  TempleTown Realty started with the purchase of a few buildings on the 1400 block of W. Diamond Street — the first off-campus student housing option at the time.

This year, TempleTown Realty will be celebrating it’s 20th year of serving the TempleTown community.  We are now the leading provider of housing in the Temple University area with over 300 apartments and houses for rent all within 3 blocks of campus.  We are so thankful for Peter Liacouras’ vision for the Temple University area, and for the transformations that have arisen from that vision.
